Important Things
Staying up later than I should -- I'm getting up very early in the morning to speak about Brad on Democracy Now, I'm tired, and there's tons more packing to do in anticipation of this Saturday's move to Brooklyn. But I've been working on a time-sensitive project: sewing a whole bunch of little homemade felt letters onto little felt circles, to create Nini and Desmond's Thing 1 and Thing 2 costumes for Tuesday's kiddie Halloween Parade.
I briefly thought about bailing on the whole event, and thus scrapping the costume construction. At 2 1/2 years old, will they even notice if we don't celebrate Halloween? But then I thought: There's no way in hell I want to be the kind of mom who's too busy to make Halloween costumes for her kids. No matter what kind of craziness is going on.
